Microsoft Removes Teams From M365 Licences

Last year Microsoft updated the way Microsoft 365, Office 365, and Teams were licensed in the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland in response to concerns raised with the European Commission. They have now announced they plan to extend that approach worldwide as it is claimed, globally consistent licensing reduces customer confusion and streamlines decision-making.

Effective April 1st 2024, Microsoft is introducing a new lineup of commercial Microsoft 365 and Office 365 suites that don't include Teams in regions outside the EEA and Switzerland, and a new standalone Teams offering for customers in those regions.

Microsoft has announced they are ending the sale of new subscriptions to existing Microsoft 365 E3/E5 and Office 365 E1/E3/E5 Enterprise subscriptions with Teams across all channels.

All new Microsoft 365 and Office 365 Enterprise customers in regions outside the EEA and Switzerland will need to choose from new subscription products

Existing customer subscriptions will continue unaltered, but Microsoft has not confirmed how long this is for.

Microsoft is offering a new lineup of Microsoft 365, Office 365, and Microsoft Teams subscriptions worldwide to provide commercial customers with the option of purchasing Teams separately from Microsoft 365 and Office 365.

The following product subscriptions are now only supplied without Teams:-

Microsoft 365 E3
Microsoft 365 E5
Office 365 E1
Office 365 E3
Office 365 E5
Office 365 F3

The following product subscriptions are now available with and without Teams:-

Microsoft 365 Business Basic
Microsoft 365 Business Standard
Microsoft 365 Business Premium
Microsoft 365 F1
Microsoft 365 F3

A standalone Teams licence is available to supplement the licences above.

Microsoft has reduced the price of the plans where it has removed the Teams product from the subscription but, adding a Teams licence to a product where Teams has been removed results in a price increase over the previous inclusive prices.
